Actonville Child and Family Welfare Society remains open

The organisation said it is waiting for the Department of Social Development to make contact.

The Actonville Child and Family Welfare Society will continue rendering statutory social work and child protection services to the public despite the Department of Social Development (DSD) not paying its subsidy.

The organisation assists the Wattville, Actonville, Lindelani, Tamboville, Kingsway, Apex, Mackenzie Park, Emandleni and Mtshalozi communities.

According to the society’s Yussuf Bhayat, they still await the Department of Social Development to call them to sign their new service level agreement (SLA).

“Up to now, we haven’t heard any news from them. In the meantime, we are operating as normal. We will be able to pay staff salaries for April, but if we do not receive funding in April, salaries for May will become an issue,” said Bhayat.

For more information, call their offices on 011 421 4879.
