Free emergency app is a lifeline for all South Africans

iER stands as a robust emergency response and disaster management network.

Integrated Emergency Response (iER) is revolutionising community safety and saving lives with its free-to-use iER app, launched in 2016.

“Sadly, South Africa’s 10111 emergency call centre is facing turmoil as crime rates in our country escalate,“ said iER manager Monique Delport.

“Life is full of surprises, and when it comes to emergencies reliable response systems are crucial.

That is where iER steps in, consolidating various emergency response services into a single, efficient call centre, ready to assist you when you need it the most.”

Delport explains iER stands as a robust emergency response and disaster management network, designed to cater to the urgent needs of South Africans. This national network ensures connection to a centralised 24-hour call centre, ready to dispatch emergency services immediately.

“The iER mobile app offers immediate notifications, connecting users directly to our iER call centre to ensure swift response. Upon receiving your alert, iER confirms it within 10 seconds and reaches out to members who have issued an alert within 30 seconds.

“Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our 98% success rate in adhering to our Service Level Agreement (SLA), based on our rapid response times,” she said.

Users can easily navigate the app to select the type of emergency and provide additional details if needed. The call centre receives the alert along with the user’s precise location, ensuring a timely and accurate response.

The iER app seeks comprehensive user information to provide efficient assistance. To function fully it requires access to your device’s phone, camera, location and microphone. These permissions enable the app to send photo alerts, access emergency contacts and pinpoint your location.

User information is strictly used by the iER call centre when an alert is triggered, ensuring privacy and security. Pertinent data is then shared only with relevant emergency personnel to provide swift assistance.

“The app seamlessly integrates with local emergency service providers. Whether it is a medical emergency, a security threat, or the need for roadside assistance, iER is designed to connect users with just the touch of a button,” added Delport.

The iER app is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms.
