Help organisation continue its work

“We cannot do it without you. Please help us make a difference in our beloved community to keep people employed or assist with much-needed equipment.”

The Homestead Helpers for Benoni urge community members to support and participate in its initiatives “for a better, cleaner and more inclusive Benoni”.

The NPO, started by Nina Visser and Jacqui Keel, has already made a meaningful impact after co-ordinating a clean-up of the Benoni Central Swimming Pool in collaboration with Heart of Benoni and Avenues Residents Association (ARA).

Both women were also part of the teams that arranged the carols by candlelight community get-together at the end of last year.

With support from prominent community figure Manny Ferreirinho, Visser has played a vital role in revitalising the Homestead Dam Park.

“We’ve brought the area to its best condition in years,” said Visser.

The Homestead Helpers have been instrumental in cleaning up the Homestead Dam.

Keel is one of the founding members of Clean Projects, served as the organisation’s executive director and was instrumental in “fostering neighbourliness, implementing systems, initiating and organising clean-ups throughout Benoni”.

She explained that the organisation is committed to the environmental and social well-being of Benoni.

“Homestead Helpers for Benoni aims to replicate its success at Homestead Dam in other areas of Benoni, working alongside organisations like Heart of Benoni and the ARA to inspire hope in all community members.

“In addition to our environmental efforts, we will also engage in humanitarian activities to address the needs of the homeless, empower the less fortunate and support orphans and vulnerable children through various programmes,” said Keel.

Visser pleaded for donations from community members because funding will assist the organisation in continuing its work.

“We cannot do it without you. Please help us make a difference in our beloved community and keep people employed or assist with much-needed equipment,” she said.
