Foundation touches learners’ ‘soles’ with shoe donation

“By donating school shoes, we are not only providing a practical solution to an immediate need but also investing in their future.”

The 100% Foundation made a difference in the lives of about 100 learners from Thopodi Primary School in Daveyton by gifting them new school shoes on February 28.

The organisation started a school shoe drive earlier this year to help needy learners from Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School No 2, where more than 70 received their shoes on February 23, and Thopodi Primary School.

About 100 learners received new school shoes.

The foundation’s senior project co-ordinator, Janap Biemba, stressed the importance of school shoes, saying the shoes prevent injuries and infections and provide stability and comfort for hours spent walking and playing.

“This donation is not merely an act of charity but an investment in their future. Shoes are essential necessities for children. Without proper footwear, their physical health and well-being could be compromised, limiting their ability to participate fully in education,” said Biemba.

The 100% Foundation gave 100 learners at Thopodi Primary School new school shoes.

Biemba emphasised the need for organisations and community members with the means to assist needy families, adding that such acts of kindness represent an act of hope and could empower children.

“Studies have shown that children who attend school regularly and are dressed adequately perform better academically. Shoes are an integral part of a school uniform and instil a sense of belonging and equality among students.”

Biemba said they would continue with the initiative to empower needy school children to pursue their education without any obstacles.

“By donating school shoes, we are providing a practical solution to an immediate need and investing in their future. We empower them to overcome obstacles, pursue their education, and reach their full potential.
“Let us come together to ensure every child in need has access to this essential item and the opportunity to thrive.

“We donated these school shoes, so let us remember that it is not simply a handout but a symbol of our belief in the potential of all children. Let us work together to create a more just and equitable world where every child has the opportunity to succeed,” said Biemba.
