Spurs CC beat Thembisa

Saahil Khan and Sabelo Mabanga top-scored for Actonville with 63 and 66 runs, respectively.

Actonville Spurs claimed crucial points in the Eastern Premier League after beating Thembisa by 73 runs at Willowmoore Park on February 18.

Batting first, Spurs posted 244 all out after the opening pair of captain Saahil Khan and Sabelo Mabanga top-scored with 63 and 66 runs, respectively.

Abid Turky chipped in with 40 runs in the middle overs and Shaveer Khan added 25 to help their side post a competitive score.

Mashudu Mwacukambe picked up four wickets for Thembisa and was assisted by Thulani Thembela and Leon Gava, who took two wickets each.

Spurs came out fiercely as they dismissed their hosts for 171 inside 32 overs.

Thembela’s 52 runs were in vain as there was no fightback from his team. Kyle Archer took 4/49, while Aman Khan and Wilbur van Wyk took two each to guide their side to a comfortable win.

Thembisa will meet Duduza in their next match at Willowmoore Park on February 25, while Spurs travel to Northmead to play against Benoni Northerns. Both matches start at 10:00.

The rest of the Premier League fixtures on February 25 are:

• Avion Park vs Alberton at Hoërskool Kempton Park
• Kwa-Thema vs Geluksdal at Prince Thethe Oval
• Midrand vs CBC Old Boys Boksburg at Olifantsfontein Oval
• Bedfordview vs Etwatwa at Bedfordview A field.

All matches start at 10:00.

Actonville Spurs A defeated Thembisa A through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method after rain interrupted the match at Lords.

The hosts posted 290 and Thembisa was on 109/9 before the rain stopped play.
