Investigations into all cases are continuing.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS) brought close to 90 suspects to book during concentrated routine operations from January 19 to 27.

Fraud
Two men were arrested in Andrew Mapheto Drive, Thembisa.

According to BFS spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the men were arrested when it was found that the vehicle, a Mitsubishi bakkie, they were traveling in was flagged for being used in the commission of crime.

Possession of drugs
Two suspects were arrested in Ivory Park Extension 2. Nyaope and cocaine were confiscated.

RRS
RRS comprising the flying squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 85 suspects, and recovered 47 vehicles and seven illegal firearms.

During the operations, which included vehicle checkpoints and intensive patrols across the province, 35 arrests were made on charges of assault with the intent on causing grievous bodily harm, business robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of counterfeit money, possession of illicit cigarettes, damage to property, armed robbery, attempted murder, attempted business breaking, theft, bribery, hijacking, driving under the influence of alcohol and being in the country illegally.

Forty-seven hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered with 16 accompanying arrests for possession thereof.

Four arrests were also made on charges of being in possession of unlicensed firearms, seven weapons were seized.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were seized and 30 arrests were made on charges of possession with the intent to sell.
