Gauteng East does well at tennis event

The U19s came ninth, while the U13 team finished 13th.

The Gauteng East Tennis Association (GETA)’s juniors’ chairperson, Karen MacRae, expressed her satisfaction after the province’s performance at the Tennis South Africa (TSA) Interpro High Schools week at Groenkloef Tennis Club in Pretoria from January 10 to 13.

GETA finished ninth overall in the U19 category, while the U13 team was 13th in their division against 16 provinces from around the country.

MacRae congratulated top-ranked Shazneen Khovadia and Jaydan Rooskrantz, who were selected for the national schools’ team for 2024. The duo will head to London, UK, for the Wimbledon Championships from July 1 to 14.

“I’m super proud of their achievements as they come to the end of their school tennis career,” MacRae said.
