BHS matrics celebrate end of school

The BHS class of 2023 attained great success despite a challenging high school career.

With a matric pass rate of 96.7%, the class of 2023 at Benoni High School (BHS) celebrated the end of their school careers.

Deputy principal Alison Knoop congratulated the 238 learners who completed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams at the end of October.

“High school was incredibly challenging for these learners,” she said.

“As they entered what would have been the foundation phase for their subject selection, the world was consumed by fear and uncertainty with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It was not an easy time for anyone and certainly came with great obstacles for our learners.”

Knoop said that, despite the upheaval, the BHS faculty are proud of the matriculants’ achievements and the vigour they displayed throughout the year.

“I congratulate the class of 2023 for their grit and tenacity,” she said.

“We believe the results you have achieved are the benchmark towards a fruitful future.”
