Beaded jewellery contributes to the care of animals

Karen Eames was on hand to guide and assist the women as they created beautiful adornments.

Quietly sitting in the shade, listening to the happy barks of the residents of The Animal Guardians (TAG), a group of woman strung beaded necklaces and bracelets for loved ones.

On November 11, supporters of the organisation, friends and family participated in the beading workshop which was aimed at raising much needed funds for the shelter, ahead of the festive season.

Meticulously digging through an assortment of colourful beads, Valencia Lopes (3) said she was making a pretty necklace for her mommy, Raquel.

“Maybe then I can get a puppy,” said the tot before jingling some bells and singing.

Valencia Lopes (3) had a difficult task of selecting only a few beautiful beads for her mommy’s necklace.

Keeping their loved ones in mind, the women sipped on their coffee, creating delicate mementos.

“We enjoyed spending the morning with the ladies and are grateful that they supported this initiative,” said Katie O’Neill of TAG.

“We were blown away by their handy work and look forward to hosting another workshop soon.”
