VOX: What is your most cherished Christmas memory?

Young and old shared their favourite festive season memories with the Benoni City Times.

Roy Goodyer (Rynfield): My dad worked for Benoni Engineering Works. They would have their annual Christmas parties at the city hall. We would play around a big Christmas tree, waiting to receive our presents. It was magical.

Caroline Mkwanyi (Etwatwa): We always spent Christmas together as a family. We would sing and celebrate the birth of Jesus and give thanks for the year that has passed.

Pretty Mkhunyana (Crystal Park): We would dress in our Sunday-best and my mom would make all seven colours of jelly and serve it with custard. It is a tradition I share with my own children.

Alet Schorn (Petit): I still remember the excitement and anticipation leading up to Christmas. All the wrapped gifts would be under the tree; I could smell the rubber of my new doll through the paper.
