Children and adults enjoy Christmas party at Salvation Army

Salvation Army assistant centre manager Antonette Grobler expressed gratitude to the members of the Elstefco Group for their generosity.

Pretoria-based company Elstefco Group, under their NGO (Elstefco Cares), brought smiles and Christmas cheer to the children at Salvation Army preschool on December 13.

The company hosted a fun-filled Christmas party for the children and 40 adults who live at the Salvation Army’s Goodwill Centre on Turvey Avenue in Benoni.

According to Olga Minnaar of the Elstefco Group, they decided to reach out to the Salvation Army during this festive period.

“Seeing there’s a need around Christmas and that for many people, it is the saddest time of the year, we felt we needed to do something to make a difference. We are also encouraged by our slogan, You and I can make a soul smile,” said Minnaar.

Members of the Elstefco Group spent their afternoon playing with the children.

The beneficiaries had delicious boerewors rolls, drinks and cupcakes for lunch, and the children enjoyed jumping castles and fun activities. The children and adults went home with presents consisting of mugs and lunchboxes with treats and backpacks, respectively.

Excited to see Santa Claus at the Christmas party are the preschool learners at the Salvation Army.

Minnaar added that they plan to reach out to animal shelters next year.
