Donate to Benoni SPCA’s Cheer Fund

The fund will run until the end of December.

The Benoni SPCA’s annual Christmas Cheer Fund is now open and members of the public are encouraged to make their donations.

Every year, around Christmas time, the SPCA finds its kennels full to the brim with surrendered, stray and abandoned animals.

The purpose of the Cheer Fund is to raise funds to cater for all the furry friends that must be fed and to give some Christmas treats to all the unfortunate pets behind bars.

Last year, the society managed to pull through with a whopping amount of R36 740. This year they are hoping to double the amount to fulfil their wishes.

Their wish list includes:
• Buying a new washing line. Their current washing line, which has been standing strong for years, has recently retired, leaving them struggling to dry the bedding which is much needed for the beloved fur babies.
• Fix and upgrade the goat’s facilities. The facility has been through the works and due to wear and tear, they have been left with the bare minimum.
• Looking for cat domes. The society wants to be able to take them apart and make little homes where the kitties can sleep or hide when seeking some quiet time. This will guarantee to keep them warm and comfortable.
• Control poles and cat tongs. The inspector, field officer and driver have been struggling to assist trapped, injured or aggressive dogs/cats when cases out for collection or cruelty.

To contribute to the Benoni SPCA Cheer Fund, visit or contact the SPCA with your donation, write your name, amount donated and message (optional) in the Cheer Fund book and keep an eye on the City Times to see your name appear on our online platforms.

Contributions can also be deposited into its bank account Benoni SPCA, FNB 54475778429, branch code 252605 and reference: cheerfund and your name.
The fund will run until the end of December.
