Detective applauded in GBV fight

Detective Sergeant Nkosinathi Qwabe has secured a life sentence for Vusimuzi Nhlapo who assaulted his grandmother.

As the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign gains momentum, the SAPS has lauded Detective Sergeant Nkosinathi Qwabe for removing perpetrators of GBV from society.

This is after he recently secured life imprisonment for Vusimuzi Nhlapo, who strangled and assaulted his 86-year-old grandmother in September last year.

The 36-year-old man from Daveyton was arrested on September 21, 2022, after his grandmother opened a case against him at Daveyton SAPS.

A case of assault GBH was opened but it was later changed to attempted murder after the police received the victim’s medical report.

According to the report, the 86-year-old woman suffered injuries on her body and her respiratory system.

On a mission to make sure law and order triumph, Qwabe conducted a thorough investigation which saw Nhlapo being handed a hefty conviction of life imprisonment in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.

Qwabe recently received a certificate of excellence from Ekurhuleni district commander Major General Anna Sithole, for his outstanding work.
