Despite a lower-than-expected attendance, Northfield Methodist Church is celebrating the successful revival of its Norfest Family Festival.
The event was last held in 2019, but the popular festival again made it onto the church’s calendar on December 1 and 2.
Kiddies played to their hearts’ content in the dedicated play area while mom and dad could tick Christmas shopping off their to-do lists.
When tummies started rumbling, various food vendors had tasty options to satisfy every taste and craving.
Nestled under the trees, revellers took refuge in the shade, savouring the delectable treats on offer in the tea garden.
“The two-day event was a great way for us to get back into the swing of hosting this event,” said organiser Roland Leschinsky.
“We have already set a date for next year’s event and hope to receive the community’s full support.”
After enjoying a scrumptious scone, Deacon Quinton de Beer stayed true to his word, perching himself on the dunk tank for his stint of dunk-a-deacon.
After a few misses, the deacon took the plunge, bringing this year’s festival to its end.
Before closing the gates, congregants, families, and friends gathered in the sanctuary for the Worship Concert featuring the church’s band, local artists and Duane Louw.
De Beer thanked the community for their support and those who made the event possible.
“Funds raised through the festival will fund our ongoing outreach programmes, which benefit a large portion of our community,” he said.
“The team is already hard at work planning next year’s event, and I look forward to seeing who will brave the flurry of balls at the tank.”
