WATCH: Kid’s dance moves go viral

The trending video was taken at a church in Benoni.

The mother of the little boy who has become a viral sensation for his cute dance moves said she wasn’t surprised when her child drew all the attention to himself at a concert at EnDeo Familiekerk in Benoni.

The video, which has since gone viral, shows Dircko Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen (7) stealing the spotlight with his energetic dance moves while singing along to a song called Lyfie by Bernice West with other children.

According to Dircko’s mother, Mercia van Nieuwenhuizen of Mpumalanga, her son is used to pulling out all the stops when he dances. However, she didn’t expect him to trend for his dance moves.

The mother of two said on November 18, they had attended her 12-year-old daughter’s end-of-the-year concert when Karel and Jena Olivier took pictures and videos of her son.

“Following Dircko’s newfound fame, he hasn’t let it get to his head. He is still down-to-earth and greets everyone.”

Mercia said her son is now fondly known as ‘Klein Kwagga’.

“Coming up with a name for him wasn’t difficult because his father called him Kwagga, so we just added Klein. His nephew, Jeff Louw, has opened social media pages including TikTok, Facebook and Instagram,” said Mercia.

Meanwhile, the organiser of the end-of-the-year concert, Rene Mc Geer, the founder of Rene’s Art of Dance based in Springs, Nigel, Heidelberg and Boksburg, said she was thrilled that the concert was successful.

She said Dircko and other children who did not participate were called to the stage to dance during an interval to win prizes. Dircko was among the winners.
