Raptors wrestlers dominate opposition

“They worked really hard this year. We are proud of them.”

Raptors Wrestling Club coach Jaco Vorster congratulated his grapplers for representing the region with pride during the SA Wrestling Federation (SAWF) National Youth Championship on October 7 at LC de Villiers Hall in Pretoria.

the Ekurhuleni Wrestling Association (EWA) colours, Voster’s wrestlers won four medals (three golds and a bronze) in their age groups.

Anton Strydom won gold in the boys U11’s freestyle, while Devan van Tonder clinched a bronze in the boys’ U13 45kg freestyle. Ivanka Bensch claimed gold in the girls’ U10 freestyle, with Jaun Vorster adding another gold in the boys’ U11 freestyle.

“We have boys and girls from Benoni, Boksburg, Kempton Park and Germiston. They worked hard this year. We are proud of them,” said Vorster.

These achievements follow another success at the nationals, where Vorster’s charges won four medals (two golds, one silver and one bronze) in the SAWF National Presidents’ Championship earlier this year.
