Pair in custody after body parts are found in suitcase they were pushing down the street

The Actonville SAPS are investigating a case of murder.

A 33-year-old woman and a man in his 20s were arrested in Wattville this weekend after being found in possession of a suitcase containing body parts.

According to SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications Officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Crime Prevention Wardens on patrol saw the pair pushing a suitcase that appeared heavy near Roshini and Kohinor streets.

“They were stopped and asked what was inside the purple suitcase.

“The man said it was a cow’s head, and when wardens started searching the suitcase, the woman ran away.

“The wardens found the mutilated body of a man in the suitcase.”

The wardens apparently gave chase but failed to catch the woman. The man was arrested.

“When police arrived at the scene, they found a human head and other body parts.

“While waiting for a photographer from the SAPS, community members noticed other body parts about 30m from the scene.”

Sekgobela said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been staying with his girlfriend, the 33-year-old female suspect, in Actonville.

“It is alleged that the landlord saw the girlfriend doing laundry in the early hours of the morning and questioned her about this.

“She apparently responded it was because she wanted to visit her sister later.

“A few hours later, the girlfriend was spotted pushing the luggage bag,” said Sekgobela.

The woman was handed over to the police by her sister on November 12.

The male suspect, who lives on the same street as the woman, alleges the woman asked him to help her carry the bag.
