Officer takes a bow after 36 years

Throughout his career, he begged a handful of medals.

Putfontein Police Station has bid farewell to one of its longest serving officers, Captain Thabo Mutsi.

Mutsi, who has been with the SAPS for 36 years after having joined in 1987, took his final salute recently.

The Daveyton resident’s diligent spirit earned him a promotion to sergeant in 1992 and in 1996 he was further promoted to inspector and warrant officer, respectively.

Climbing the ladder to success, Mutsi was promoted to the rank of captain in 2005 because of his remarkable work.

He has worked as a Vispol commander in various police stations in Ekurhuleni and led a number of successful operations.

Throughout his career he also bagged a handful of medals.

Speaking during Mutsi’s farewell party, Putfontein SAPS station commander Leiutentant Colonel Wellington Mathiane said the officer dedicated his life to serving the people of this country.

“You’ve spent most of your time away from your family, now it’s time to go and enjoy your well-earned retirement with your family,” said Mathiane.
