Norfest is back and promises to be bigger than before

The church’s every popular festival is back for the 13th year.

Live performances, a Christmas pantomime, crafters and an avenue of street food vendors – Northfield Methodist Church’s Nortfest is back and promises to kick the festive cheer into high gear.

Following a three-year hiatus, the popular two-day festival will be celebrating its 13th year from December 1 to 2, offering fun and entertainment for the entire family.

Coordinated by Roland Leschinsky and Jenine Pretorius the festival is aimed at not only spreading Christmas cheer but to raise much-needed funds for the congregation’s ongoing outreach programmes that benefit hundreds of the community’s less fortunate.

“We are excited about this year’s event and we are certain that there will be something for everyone, young and old,” said Leschinsky.

“We have space for 30 crafters, who have been vetted to ensure that there is not a duplication of wares thus ensuring a wide variety for shoppers as well as equal opportunity for vendors to market their goods.”

Gates open at 09:00 on December 1 with an entrance fee of R10 per person.

Children under 12 enter for free.

On opening day, a local theatrical troop will take to the stage to perform in their Christmas pantomime, with tickets to this performance being available upon entry.

“Duane Louw will take to the stage on December 2 following a worship concert, on December 2,” said Leschinsky.

Little ones can look forward to playing to their heart’s content at the dedicated play area and petting zoo.

If you have shopped and feel the urge to ‘drop,’ why not slip into the shade at the tea garden to sip on a refreshing drink while indulging in some baked delicacies?
