Pug Rescue urgently needs foster homes

Veterinary care will still be provided by Pug Rescue

Founded in 2008, Pug Rescue South Africa has become synonymous with rescuing and re-homing this panting, snoring flat-nosed breed that animal lovers adore.

However, the organisation is urgently looking for loving homes to foster some of its 175 furry residents.

According to founder Cheryl Gaw, the shelter, often becoming the last home for many of the surrendered and rescued pugs, is running at full capacity.

“We cannot turn any animal away and although we dream of expanding the kennel facilities to include a neighbouring property, this is not going to happen overnight,” said Gaw.

“We urgently need to place 20 to 30 pups in foster care to free up space for new intakes that may need more extensive care.”

She continues saying that only fit and healthy animals will be eligible for fostering while those needing monitored care would remain at the centre.

“We are looking for homes that can afford to feed our beloved pugs while offering them a loving home during this time,” said Gaw.

Potential foster homes will undergo screening to ensure that the home and family are partnered with a foster pug that will seamlessly slot into their lives for the duration of their stay.
