WATCH: New vocalist emerges from Fairleads

“I am itching to get on stage and perform live.”

Most people know Jordyn Reyneke (14) of Fairleads as a spirited equestrian, animal lover and dedicated learner in her ‘bumble bee uniform’ (Benoni High School) but she has recently unveiled her vocal talents.

The City Times recently met with the young songstress, who has big dreams for entering the entertainment industry.

“I have been singing for as long as I remember,” she said.

“I find any reason to sing, much to my family’s dismay, because I could easily sing an entire conversation.”

On August 12, Jordyn released the first of five songs she recorded, called Summer.

Parts of the music video were recorded at the Bunny Park, featuring Reyenke’s close friends. Of her music taste, Jordyn finds herself being the stereotypical teen, gushing over K-pop but she admits that she often blares rock tunes.

“Music isn’t just something I perform, it is part of who I am and how I express myself,” she said.

“I do not know if performing is my sole purpose as I would love to become a software engineer, which can be incorporated into the music industry.

“The production of music and the roles of music producers also interest me. The trick is to bring all these elements together to forge a career.”

Jordyn admits that although she has been busy recording over the past couple of months, her introduction to the sound stage will be slow, to maintain balance as well as build confidence within the industry.

“Although her dreams and talents are big, we want Jordyn to take things easy while maintaining a balance between her passions and work,” said mom, Natalie.

“Among everything that is going on she attends singing lessons and learning to play the guitar. It is a lot to do at the age of 14 and we do not want her to become overwhelmed or disillusioned.”

With the preparations for year-end exams looming, Jordyn hints that she will be dropping a new track soon on all streaming platforms.
