City delays opening of swimming pools

The City apologises for this unfortunate situation and any inconvenience caused.

The opening of the swimming pools in the City of Ekurhuleni will no longer occur as expected today [September 1] due to unforeseen circumstances.

Usually, the City’s pools close for the winter season only to reopen on the first day of September to coincide with Spring Day.

The City is committed to creating a healthy and safe swimming and recreational environment for all users.

In this regard, the City will endeavour to ensure that the water quality of all our pools is compliant with the safety standards set by Life Saving SA and the Aquatics regulatory authorities.

The Department Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is working around the clock to ensure that the pools are reopened as soon as possible. The exact reopening dates will be communicated to the public in due course.

The city apologises for this unfortunate situation and any inconvenience caused. Meanwhile, the Boksburg Swimming Pool is available for swimming galas upon special arrangements.

For further information, the public can contact the operations division of the Department of Sports at 011 999 7938.
