Hospital boasts with new cardiac wing

“In our efforts to ensure we provide quality care, we will continue to grow our service offering"

Life The Glynnwood recently unveiled its newly renovated cardiac wing.

The three-storey facility now houses a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath lab), which allows for more specialised procedures to be performed by the cardiac care team as they continue to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.

According to Bonnie Whiffler, spokesperson for the hospital, the lab allows specialists to perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat cardiac blockages and other artery problems.

“The lab is now double in size and the equipment has additional functionality, enabling more specialised procedures to take place,” says Hendrik Swartz, hospital manager.

“The additional space also means that the patient experience will be enhanced.”

He concluded by saying that the hospital’s management has proposed several plans to both the Department of Health and the CoE that if approved, will support a more holistic approach to better serve the community.
