Local church hosts golf fundraiser

Proceeds from the golf day will be used to fund the work and ministry of the church

The Benoni Central Methodist Church recently hosted a successful golf day at the Benoni Country Club.

According to Fungai Murangandi of the Church, the golf day was held in aid of the church’s programmes.

“The proceeds from the golf day will be used to fund the work and ministry of the church, a downtown church complex that includes the Care Inn Children’s Centre and Bula Monyako Mission Centre,” said Murangandi.

Murangandi said the ministry’s outreach programmes include:
• A feeding scheme for approximately 70 homeless people three times a week
• The provision of monthly nutritious food parcels to underprivileged people, including families caring for Aids orphans, senior citizens and to the unemployed for whom a food parcel is the last resort.
•Works together with social services and social workers to assist with counselling, rehabilitation and placing homeless folk in mission homes.
• An advice office that assists with obtaining identity documents, birth and death certificates and child grants
• Conducts life skills programmes at prisons and centres for parolees.
