Police need community participation

Community participation is vital in crime prevention

Police have seen a slight increase in house break-ins and theft of motor vehicles in Rynfield.

They are calling on members of the community to assist.

In recent months the area’s CPF has not been operating optimally, thus resulting in a breakdown in communication.

“Both Clarke and Cragg streets have become areas of concern and we are appealing to the community to become involved in sharing any information relating to suspicious persons or activities with us,” said Capt Nomsa Sekele, spokesperson for the Benoni Police Station.

“Other local sector members, along with members of the police station, have stepped up patrols. We are calling on residents to assist us with reactivating the CPF as well as openly sharing information with us.”

For more information or to become actively involved, contact acting sector manager Sgt Louwtjie Bekker on 082 301 2302.
