Five arrested during routine BFS operations

Rape
Officers arrested a person sought in connection with rape, on May 17.

According to WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS), the arrest took place after the suspect was brought to a hospital in the Benoni CBD for medical treatment following a suicide attempt.

The arrest is in connection with a case that was reported in Edenvale.

Drugs
On May 16, officers arrested five people, aged between 24 and 40, on charges of possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Arrests were made in High and Kingsway roads, Brakpan, Ehlanzeni Section, Tembisa and Maxwell Street, Kempton Park.

Crystal methamphetamine and nyaope were confiscated.

Theft
At 15:30 on May 17, a man was arrested for his alleged involvement in a syndicate linked to the theft of motorcycles.

With the help of a local private security company, the suspect was arrested on the R21, direction Pretoria.

A case of theft and malicious damage to property had been reported to the Boksburg North Police Station.

Vehicles recovered
Three abandoned hijacked vehicles were recovered by BFS officers, between May 16 and 17:

• A white Isuzu truck was found in High Road, Benoni. It was reported as stolen in Olievenhoutbosch.

• A white Kia K2700 was recovered in the Primrose squatter camp. It was reported as hijacked in Bedfordview.

• A white Toyota Hilux was found hidden in bushes in Putfontein. It was reported as stolen in Crystal Park.
