With every ring of the bell Jeanette will be honoured for her vision for the TAT centre.

At the beginning of the year, The Almond Tree (TAT) Children’s Village, in Cloverdene, officially opened the doors of its Children of Promise Primary School, a vision that was seen to fruition by benefactor Jeanette Stuart.

Boasting with 86 learners from Grade R to Grade Two, the school not only offers tuition to the young residents of TAT but is also open to public scholars.

On May 14, Children of Promise learners, TAT founders and staff, as well as close friends and family of Stuart, surprised the woman who is described as the visionary of the centre with the unveiling of the school’s bell tower.

“Ours school’s motto is to nurture the lives in order to reach exceptional heights and Jeanette’s unwavering support, guidance and vision has brought us to this point where have our own primary school,” said Charmaine McQueen, founder of TAT.

“Her legacy will echo through our school and village for generations to come.

“The opportunities that her generosity has created not only has a lasting impact on the children but the staff too, with her help and guidance we have realised that the sky is not the limit.”

The bell will in future be tolled by learners that graduate from the school, to mark the end of one chapter and start of another.

Jeanette Stuart rings the commemorative bell for the first time.
