If you’d like to sponsor a training session email info@hospiceeastrand.co.za.

Stefanutti Stocks recently offered 12 healthcare workers the opportunity to attend an introduction to palliative care course, facilitated by Hospice East Rand.

Palliative care is specialised medical care to improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing the challenges associated with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness.

This is according to Hospice East Rand marketing and media liaison Jonquil Siepman.

“This is accomplished through the prevention and relief of suffering using early identification, assessment and treatment and control of pain and other challenges whether physical, psychosocial and spiritual.

“Most healthcare workers have not been equipped with the necessary palliative care skills and Hospice East Rand can fill this void through the training courses they provide,” she said.

Thanks to the construction company providing this opportunity, the twelve healthcare workers have been equipped with information and practical skills related to palliative care to aid them in caring for patients in a home-based health care environment.
