Bokkie Park live stock temporarily relocated to Bunny Park

Animal lovers can still visit the livestock at the Bunny Park.

The Ekurhuleni municipality announced that livestock at the Bokkie Park has been temporarily relocated to the Bunny Park as the recent heavy rain has overly saturated the soil at the park, causing various health challenges.

According to Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, Bokkie Park houses the city’s livestock and farm animals and it has been hardest hit by the issue of overly saturated soil.

“As a result, the City resorted to relocating the sheep, goats and cows to Bunny Park for the remainder of April and May.

“This is to prevent the animals from contracting hoof rot, a bacterial infection in the hoofs, associated with continuous wet conditions. The pigs and ostriches will stay at Bokkie Park as they are less susceptible to hoof rot. Once the soil at the park is a bit drier, the relocated animals will be brought back,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini highlighted patrons and animal lovers who wish to visit the livestock may do so by visiting the Bunny Park in Benoni, where they are temporarily kept.
