BFS successes

The suspects will appear in court this week.

Weekend operations once again proved to be successful, with members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) making six arrests and recovering six vehicles.

Police resources found
After midnight on March 31, members responded to information of a Volkswagen GTI on the corner of Brabant and Huckleberry streets, Freeway Park.
The vehicle had been reported as hijacked in Dawn Park. Upon arrival, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and police equipment was found inside the vehicle.

“We recovered a police uniform, a siren, a dashboard strobe light, two blank 9mm rounds as well as a black pistol that only fires blank ammunition,” said WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for BFS.

The matter was handed over the Boksburg Police Station for further investigation.

Equipment recovered
Welding machines, gas bottles and grinders were recovered in New Modder Road, Benoni.
One suspect was arrested at a business where the equipment was allegedly stolen.

Drugs confiscated
Two men were arrested on charges of dealing drugs.
The two separate arrests were made at the Daveyton Hostel and Ramaphosa Section, Reiger Park. Crystal methamphetamine, nyaope and dagga was confiscated.

Thieves arrested
Two men were arrested and a silver Subaru Forester was impounded in Bredell, Kempton Park.
The suspects had been positively linked to a case of theft in Brakpan.

Abandoned vehicles recovered
On April 3, BFS members recovered four BMWs that had been reported as hijacked at a townhouse complex in Outeniqua Street, Pomona.
According to information, the vehicles were stolen between February and April.
The vehicles are a white X3 (Actonville), a blue 3-Series (Putfontein), a white 3-Series (Thembisa) and a red 3-Series (Booysens).
No arrests were made.
