Landlord moves postboxes from Rynfield to Isando

The SA Post Office apologises to its customers for the inconvenience.

Customers who have postboxes at Rynfield Terrace Post Office are fuming after they recently discovered their boxes have been moved to Isando following the closure of the post office.

According to one of the disgruntled customers, Ronel Meintjes, no explanation or warning were given before the move.

“The closure of the Rynfield Terrace Post Office has inconvenienced us.

“With the increased petrol prices, we are now expected to drive to Isando. It’s not fair. And, because the depot closed so abruptly, many people will be turned away when they go to get their post because nothing was communicated,” she said.

Another affected resident said: “What is going on? I cannot get an answer from Benoni. Are we expected to travel to Isando to get our mail? Will the post office refund me?”

Communications officer Johan Kruger said the landlord from whom they rented space suspended the lease contract and moved the postboxes to Isando.

“We have retrieved the list of postbox renters from our database and will allocate postboxes to them at a more convenient location.”

Kruger added their customers will receive a message from the post office within the next week.
