Department of Education laptops found in Daveyton

A total of 18 laptops were found at a 30-year-old man' house in Mayfield, Daveyton.

The Putfontein police arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen property after 18 Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) laptops were found in his house.

The man was arrested on March 14 in Mayfield, Daveyton.

The arrest comes after learners from a local school confessed to the principal they had sold their laptops to someone.

According to Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi, when police arrived at the suspect’s home, they found the laptops displaying the GDE logo.

“When the police asked how the school laptops had ended up in his possession, he failed to provide satisfactory answers so was arrested and detained at the Putfontein SAPS,” Ubisi said.

Putfontein SAPS station commander Lt-Col Wellington Mathiane thanked the officers for wasting no time in arresting the suspect.
