Seven arrested for drug possession

Local drug trade suffers another blow

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) confiscated R5 590 worth of drugs and arrested three during weekend operations.

According to WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for BFS, members followed up on information of drug dealing taking place in Ihashi Street, Ramaphosa Section, in Reiger Park.

“Members found the suspects in possession of 228 packets of crystal methamphetamine, 156 full Mandrax tablets as well as 292 half tablets,” he said.

“A further 200 packets of dagga and 30 glass pipes used for smoking crystal methamphetamine was confiscated.”

In separate cases, BFS members further arrested four more suspects on charges of being in possession of drugs.

The arrests were made in Barcelona Extension 24, in Etwatwa, Station Road, Brakpan and Emoyeni Section, Thembisa.

“One person was arrested for assault and another for being in possession of a stolen Hino truck,” he said.

“Four abandoned vehicles linked to cases of theft and hijacking were also recovered.”
