Benoni para-athlete defends title

Louw won a gold medal at the All-Africa Championships in Egypt in 2020

Polio survivor and para-athlete Div Louw successfully defended his title at the African Sprint Triathlon Cup at Maselspoort Resort in Bloemfontein on February 13.

Louw took part in the para-athletes sprint and came out on top to defend his SA title.

The 70-year old contracted polio at the age of five and spent months at the Boksburg Benoni Isolation Hospital in 1956.

“I joined the para sport community just over a year ago. This win paves the way to participate in the Africa Triathlon Cup in Gqebera in March,” said Louw.

“This also gives me an opportunity to participate in the All-Africa Championships in Morocco later this year.”

Louw won a gold medal at the continental showpiece in Egypt in 2020.
