Rapid Response members promoted

Members of the flying squad and K9 unit have been promoted to the rank of captain.

On January 7, the provincial head of Rapid Response Services in Gauteng, Brig Samuel Killian, bestowed ranks on 16 promoted officers under his command.

The ceremony took place at the provincial coordinators’ office in Benoni.

Members promoted to the rank of captain in the K9 unit are Kobus Venter (Johannesburg), Jack Mokwatlo (West Rand), Koos du Plessis (Benoni) and Mmushi Lebelo (Carletonville). Joshua Bodibe (West Rand) was promoted to lieutenant-colonel.

Members promoted to the rank of captain in the flying squad are Renier Dorfling, Josaya Masuku and Ngwako Ramollo (all of Germiston), Siewert Wiid (Johannesburg), Edward Mushoma, Robert Manyama, Azwililelwi Netshonkolo and Letshela Bodibe (all of West Rand), and Werner Henning and Paul Majoro (both of Sedibeng). Bhekinkosi Bhengu of Sedibeng was promoted to lieutenant-colonel.

Killian congratulated members and explained that with the rank comes more responsibilities in the service.

The officers were instructed that these responsibilities start with immediate effect. He advised them of the vital role they now play in the management structure of Rapid Response, such as keeping the discipline the units are known for to maintain a high standard of service.

Members receiving their ranks from Killian and their commanding officers concluded the parade.
