Mayor Campbell saddened by former mayor’s death

The mayor also extended her heartfelt condolences to the Nkosi family, his friends and colleagues during this period of grief.

The Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni Tania Campbell said she is deeply saddened by the untimely death of former mayor Duma Nkosi, who was also a former MP.

Nkosi died at age 64 on Reconciliation Day.

According to the spokesperson of the mayor, Phakamile Mbengashe, Campbell had the opportunity to work closely with Nkosi during his mayorship from 2001 to 2008.

Mbengashe pointed out that although Nkosi and Campbell belonged to opposing political parties, their relationship was founded on mutual respect and professionalism.

“I’m deeply saddened by the news of the untimely death of former mayor and MP Hon Duma Nkosi. He was an astute politician who commanded an enormous amount of respect from his peers. I will always remember his gentle and diplomatic leadership approach.

“As we embark on our journey as a newly formed multi-party coalition, we shall embrace mayor Nkosi’s ability to constantly exercise political tolerance and humility in our duties. We will miss him dearly,” said Campbell.
