Resident (80) wins Lego raffle

The club will run more Lego raffles next year - with a second prize!

The Rotary Club of Benoni Van Ryn raised a total of R5 320 from their Lego raffle, which will go towards funding Kid’s Haven vegetable garden starter packs.

On December 11, at the Bunny Park Food and Craft Market, the club announced the winner of the Lego Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator valued at R10 000.

Robin Bath (80) bought the winning ticket.

The raffle was launched on September 27 to raise funds for the Kid’s Haven vegetable garden starter pack, which is an initiative that the club supports.

Charmaine Cole-Niven, treasurer of the club, said many friends were made along the way as the date of the draw drew closer.

“There was much scurrying to obtain a ticket with people queuing or chasing the raffle sellers around the market to obtain that last-minute purchase and at last it was 14:00. Janine Richardson, the organiser of the food and craft market, was called on to do the draw and announce the winner.”.

For those that didn’t manage to purchase the winning ticket, the club will be running more Lego raffles next year and with a second prize too.

The club would like to thank Lego for making the raffle possible, the supporters for purchasing and selling tickets, Janine for accommodating them, and the City Times for publishing the raffle sale.
