The public has been invited to contribute towards making this year’s Christmas memorable for the children at Kids Haven.
Motus Nissan East Rand Mall will be collecting toys, clothes and unperishable food items for the home which will be distributed on December 13.
The dealership’s booking clerk, Derishka Reddy, said the idea was rooted in their service manager Najeeb Sirkhoth whose family has been supporting Kids Haven for a while.
“In my opinion, every charity matters but when we cannot support all of them we can always make a difference to one of them and that difference matters. I believe that the children are not just the future but they are also our present, so we have to nourish them,” said Reddy.
“We do not need to know the beginning of a child’s story to change the ending. Kids Haven has been caring for children since 1992. They have been serving the homeless and street-stricken children in the Ekurhuleni region by prioritising vast factors such as care, protection, health and education.
“I support their opened hearts and arms for these children; we can easily say that they are making a big difference.”
Reddy said in 2019 they assisted the home.
“We believe that it is not about how much we give but how much love we put into giving. The home caters for children from three to 18 years of age. “We are collecting any form of donation we can get, whether it is monetary or toys we will accept it. Our biggest aim is to let these children know that they are loved and give them a memorable Christmas.
“I would immensely appreciate our community lending us a helping hand to make a child smile for Christmas,” she said.
Reddy encourages other businesses to support NPO’s as they give a voice to the voiceless and such organisations help build our communities.
“NPO’s step in and take charge when others won’t. They show us that there is still hope for change when such hope is driven by communities.
“This is exactly why we should not only support them but reciprocate their positive doings.”
The deadline for the donations will be on December 10. Donations can drop off at Motus Nissan East Rand Mall, corner Rondebult and K94 Centre, Boksburg. Ask for the service department.
