Golfers swing for charity

November is Cansa's Men’s Mental Health Month, which was the theme of the day.

Golfers swung their clubs to the tune of R220 000 in fund-raising for Cansa at the Benoni Country Club on November 5.

The weather stood in favour of the collaboration between Cansa and the Benoni Gold Mining Company (BGM), which was the main sponsor and donated an additional R50 000 to the cause.

November is Cansa’s Men’s Mental Health Month, which was the theme of the day. To highlight this, rapid transformational therapist Leanne Hellon donated R100 000 towards the golf day.

Michelle Hennessey, from BGM, said the company got involved as the owner’s parents were diagnosed with cancer and they received assistance from Cansa; this was his way of giving back to an organisation that gave to his parents.

While the company sponsored a hole and donated funds, they made the day fun for all golfers who passed by their hole by encouraging them to play the games they had or to buy a shooter, all in the spirit of raising funds.

The day ended with a prize-giving and all golfers and sponsors enjoyed a meal to celebrate the success of the day.
