Murder case against man who set girlfriend’s car alight postponed

The accused is also charged with malicious damage to property and reckless driving.

The case against a 40-year-old man charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Kgomotso Sekhwela (27), was postponed to October 29.

The man appeared in absentia in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on October 11.

He is still in hospital for the treatment of burn wounds sustained when he set Sekhwela’s car alight outside a pre-school her child attends in Miles Sharp Street at around 06:15 on September 13.

Sekhwela, who sustained serious burn wounds, died on September 23.

The accused is also charged with malicious damage to property and reckless driving.
