SPCA Christmas Cheer Fund opens

SPCA staff Bernard Gwandiwa (left, kennel hand) and inspector Tebogo Maswangange hold three fur babies whose owner recently died. The animals are in need of new homes. They are a female wirehair terrior, a female Jack Russell, miniature pinscher-cross, and a male fox terrier, all between four and five years old.

The Benoni SPCA Christmas Cheer Fund is in full swing and chairperson Diane Wooldridge is urging the public to donate.

The fund opened on October 1 and almost R3 000 has already been collected.

“We are hoping to raise R100 000,” said Wooldridge.

“One of our vehicles was recently written off, so we want to put the money towards a new vehicle. Pet food is always welcome and cash donations are needed.”
