The Benoni police have opened an inquest docket after the decomposed body of a man was discovered at a house in Pretoria Road, Rynfield, on September 1 at around 14:00.
The body is believed to be that of an 84-year-old Moroccan national. Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said a garden worker discovered the body.
“The gardener went to the house after realising it had been over a month since he had heard anything from his employer, who would generally call him once a month to do the gardening,” she said.
“After discovering the body in the house, the gardener alerted officers on patrol in the area. It is unclear how long the man had been dead by the time his body was found.”
