Police arrest 14 during operation Okae Molao in Etwatwa
The operation focused on roadblocks, stop-and-searches, liquor, drugs, second-hand goods compliance and disaster management act regulations.
Etwatwa police made several arrests during the Okae Molao crime-prevention operation, led by Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Maj Gen Anna Sithole, recently.
The operation was conducted in various parts of Etwatwa from 05:30 to 14:00.
The operation focused on roadblocks, stop-and-searches, liquor, drugs, second-hand goods compliance and disaster management act regulations.
During the operation, 14 people were arrested for being in possession of drugs, one for dealing in drugs and being in possession of ammunition. Seven illegal taverns were closed, 39 traffic fines worth R13 300 were issued and seven J534S fines (admission of guilt fines) were issued to illegal shebeen owners.
Police also recovered nyaope, Mandrax, dagga, 9mm canik pistol, ammunition and steel pieces stolen from railway lines.
Sithole thanked the members for their involvement and dedication to make the operation successful to root out crime and ensuring the safety of the residents.
