Darrell Segal writes:

I wish to congratulate the authorities, presumably Ashton College, Ekurhuleni Traffic Department and resident bodies, on solving the congestion problem in Beryl Street, Goedeburg in Benoni.

The widening of the pavement area to better accommodate angle parking in front of the college is already yielding improved flow of peak-period traffic, and as work is still currently being completed, one can only expect the result to be better.

However, why are there some road users continuing to double-park, on the phone with hazard lights flashing while waiting to pick up learners? Others are still parking with the tails of their vehicles in the street and other cases, parents and learners walking in the road.

Well, the answer to this is that they have always done this due to a lack of respect and consideration for others. So why should they change?

Unfortunately, there are still drivers who travel against the one-way stipulated restriction sign, but in the absence of visible traffic control, these transgressions will continue.

However, the situation is much improved. Therefore, bouquets to the authorities, but I’m afraid onions to the rest!
