A call for volunteers for Hospice’s charity shops

You do not need to be available for the whole week or a full day.

People across the City are being sought to sign up as volunteers to work at the different Hospice East Rand charity shops around Ekurhuleni.

You do not need to be available for the whole week or a full day.

“Volunteering is on your own terms whether that be for one hour a week, one morning a week or a full day. The choice is yours but the time you give is invaluable,” said Jonquil Siepman, marketing and media liaison for Hospice East Rand.

“Your help would be greatly appreciated in supporting the shop manager whether it is by attending to customers, unpacking and sorting donated items or keeping the shop tidy.

“We’d like to assure potential volunteers that Covid-19 protocols is strictly adhered to at all times for the safety of everyone in our shops,” said Siepman.

If you’re able to give time and make a difference, the Hospice team would like to hear from you. You can contact Carla at Hospice East Rand on 011 422 1531 or carla@hospiceeastrand.co.za

The Hospice charity shops play an important part in raising funds for the organisation. These shops are located in Boksburg, Benoni, Edenvale, Germiston, Kempton Park, Springs and Brakpan.

Why volunteer?
“Besides helping our NPO, which is huge within itself, it also provides you with the opportunity to meet new friends, have fun, counteract loneliness, feel useful within our community especially for those people who have recently retired or where your job has been made redundant,” explained Siepman.
