Daveyton home of the disabled calls on the community to support its Casual Day fund-raiser

Casual Day will be celebrated on September 3 to create awareness and raise funds for people living with disabilities.

With Casual Day coming up on September 3, the Elethu Cheshire Home for the Disabled is calling on residents to support its fund-raising campaign.

The home is selling Casual Day stickers with the hope to raise funds for the home.

Casual Day creates awareness and raises funds for people with disabilities.

Each sticker will be sold at R20 and some portion of the sale will go towards the home.

The home’s centre manager, Sandile Mafu, said they urge the public to support them as this is for a good cause.

“The money raised will go towards maintaining the home and the needs of the elders,” said Mafu.

The NPO gets support from the Department of Social Development; however, it does not cover all their needs.

Mafu said they still need monetary donations that could assist them to pay their electricity bill due to non-payment since 2019.

The home would also appreciate any donation of adult diapers, sanitary towels, toiletries, cleaning and art and craft items that will be used by the residents in the art classes with Michael Maqungo, who is one of the board members at the home.

Anyone who would like to purchase the stickers or donate can contact Mafu on 011 424 7050 or at daveyton@cheshirehomes.co.za
