Northfield Methodist Church gives back to local NPO

The NPO, situated in Mayfield Extension Five, Putfontein, was established in 2010.

Northfield Methodist Church partnered with Putfontein NPO He Is The Provider to commemorate Mandela Day.

The church supported the NPO with food donations donated by members of the church on July 18.

These included jars of hope (consisting of soup ingredients), a substantial amount of meat, and disposable crockery.

The NPO, situated in Mayfield Extension Five, Putfontein, was established in 2010.

Thabile Nkosinkulu, project manager for the NPO, said it was formed as a response to the challenges faced by senior citizens. Challenges faced by the citizens include being left alone during the day, not having access to recreational and social activities, and generally feeling neglected by the community.

“Our aim was to see that the elderly are well taken care of,” said Nkosinkulu.

They have 31 members who meet three days a week and on Thursday for a prayer meeting.

Lisa Johnstone, mission and outreach coordinator, said more than 67 mouths were fed.

To assist the NPO with any donations call Nkosinkulu on 083 574 3898.
