Cops arrest woman carrying unlicensed firearm in Actonville

Police responded to the complaint of a shooting incident at the Masjid Bilal Mosque on Drakensburg Street.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on July 8 in Actonville.

Actonville SAPS spokesperson Sgt Godin Nyathi said police responded to the complaint of a shooting incident at the Masjid Bilal Mosque on Drakensburg Street.

“On arrival at the scene, police found the alleged suspect who tried to shoot a male victim but missed,” said Nyathi.

“It is alleged the woman and victim were fighting over a body that was to be buried.”

Police recovered the firearm and 13 live rounds of ammunition. The woman was arrested and detained at the station.

A case of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened at the Actonville Police Station.
