Manger Care Centre needs two social workers

The Manger Care Centre in Brentwood Park has two open vacancies for a social worker and an auxiliary social worker to join its team as the organisation is working with the Department of Social Development on a long-term project.

The successful candidates will be expected to work for each organisation on certain days per week and attend to the needs of each organisation fully.

Social worker

Requirements: Grade 12 and a degree in social work to allow registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions as a social worker.

• Registered with the South African Council for Social Services Professions as a social auxiliary worker.

• Knowledge and understanding of social work and more specifically working with shelters for the homeless, disseminate basic information on legislation, policies and procedures in the social work field.

• Driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Duties:

• Provide social work services concerning the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families, and communities through the relevant departmental programmes.

• Provide supervision to the social auxiliary worker and other related personnel.

• Attend to any other matters that could result in or stem from social instability in any form.

• Monitor and study the social services’ legal and policy framework continuously.

• Attend meetings, workshops, symposia, conferences and any other relevant development activities to take cognisance of the latest developments in the relevant field.

Auxiliary social worker

• Grade 10 plus completion of the learnership to allow registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions as a social auxiliary worker.

• Registered with the South African Council for Social Services Professions as a social auxiliary worker.

• Knowledge and understanding of social work to disseminate basic information on legislation, policies and procedures in the social work field.

• Driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Duties:

• Provide assistance and support to social workers with the rendering of a social work service concerning the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities.

• Assist social workers to attend to any other matters that could result in or stem from social instability in any form. Monitor and study the social services’ legal and policy framework continuously.

• Attend shelter network meetings, workshops, symposia, conferences, and any other relevant development activities to take cognisance of the latest developments in the relevant field.
