The Benoni police made several arrests during the Okae Molao crime-prevention operation, led by the station commander Brig Thabo Mphuti, on July 8.
The operation was conducted in various parts of Benoni from 05:00 to 14:00.
The operation focused on roadblocks, stop-and-searches, liquor, drugs, second-hand goods compliance, illegal mining and Disaster Management Act regulations.
During the operation, 11 people were arrested for having drugs, two for contravening the Disaster Management Act regulations, three vehicles were impounded, liquor worth R135 100 was confiscated from different outlets and drugs and illegal mining equipment were seized.
A total of 231 vehicles were searched and 29 fines issued worth R13 450.
The station commander thanked all SAPS (various units) and EMPD for the good work they carried out throughout the operation
